Bus and Equipment Vehicle Instructions

Driving to Cary High School

For most bands, the easiest way for the buses and equipment vehicles to get to Cary High School is to take the Cary Towne Blvd exit off of I-40 (Exit 291). This will give you a direct route to the Walnut St. entrance and Adams Elementary and will avoid traffic backups on Walnut St and SE Maynard Rd. due to road closures from Cary Band Day

Buses

All buses must enter Cary High School through the intersection of Cary Towne Blvd and Walnut St. Please use this link for the location of the entrance.

Equipment Vehicles

All Equipment Vehicles must check in at Adams Elementary School. There is a large sign where Equipment Vehicles can turn into the bus loop. Equipment Vehicles will be released from Adams Elementary to enter the Walnut Street Entrance at their designated arrival time. Checking in at Adams Elementary is critical to our flow of Equipment Vehicles to ensure that space is available for all bands. Equipment Vehicles arriving at the Walnut St Entrance before their arrival time will be rerouted to Adams Elementary. A Cary Band Day volunteer at Adams Elementary will be in contact with the equipment vehicle team and will release you when they are ready.

Only band equipment trucks and vehicles towing band equipment trailers will be allowed to enter the Walnut St. Entrance and park on Walnut St. Parents driving personal vehicles but helping with the equipment vehicles must park their vehicles in Spectator Parking.

All 1A, 2A, and 3A Equipment Vehicles will be required to depart their assigned area after their band’s performance. The departure time will be included on the rotation
schedule sent to your director and is generally 1 hour and 25 minutes after the performance time. This is to ensure that later bands will have room to park their Equipment Vehicles. This includes 1A, 2A, 3A bands who want to stay for the evening to watch additional bands perform. Equipment vehicles can be moved to East Cary Middle School (0.8 miles). A Cary volunteer can provide shuttle service back to the school from East Cary.

How to Leave Cary High

Buses will leave the school through the road next to the football stadium. Equipment vehicles will leave through the intersection of Walnut St. and SE Maynard Rd. At the completion of the 1A-3A portion of the day, we ask you to load buses and equipment vehicles as quickly as possible as we will already have bands arriving for the 4A-6A portion.

Spectator Entrance

For safety reasons, spectators should not enter through Walnut St. Please refer to this page for spectator parking information.
